We tend to treat a long to-do list as a sign of ambition. More often it's a sign we haven't decided what actually matters.
The generous edit
Cutting your list in half isn't lazy — it's generous. It gives your attention somewhere to land. A few things done well will always beat a dozen done in a hurry, and you'll feel the difference by evening.
Fewer, but better
This is the idea behind everything we make: do fewer things, and do them properly. It's harder than it sounds, because it means saying no to a lot of perfectly good options. But the result is a life — and a shelf — with room to breathe.
Protect the quiet
Doing less only works if you actually keep the space you free up. Guard it a little. Let some of the day stay unscheduled. That's where the good stuff usually happens.
